Scott’s Rio Lanes in Rio was the second stop for us. Rio is pronounced “rye-o”, not “ree-o” like the city in Brazil. The pronunciation of the town comes from poor penmanship when the town submitted its papers to become incorporated. The town wanted to be called Ohio, but someone at the statehouse read Rio instead and they’ve had the name ever since. Scott the owner was renting the apartment above the alley when he was approached to purchase the building.
